Welcome to the Gateway Camera Club
Our goals are to share ideas, knowledge, and insight; to help improve the skills and abilities of our members; and to have some fun while enjoying photography. We recognize photography is changing, growing and with ever-emerging technologies, more exciting than ever! Gateway was one of the first local camera clubs to embrace digital photography and, as a result, we have some very knowledgeable digital photographers.
Our Membership Information Page provides details on our club along with a link to our membership application.
Many award-winning members of Gateway Camera Club honed their talents and abilities through the mentoring they found at Gateway.
Our club is very active and we meet on most Tuesdays of each month from September to June from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Want to compete, learn and share? Check out our exciting schedule. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Just stop in and introduce yourself. We hope you'll soon find an aspect of Gateway that fits your interests. Please browse our website, learn more about what we do, and enjoy. And remember, enthusiasm is catchy. Come and catch some!

Tuesday December 3rd - Education Night
Presented by Mike Blanchette
Exposure bracketing has become a commonplace method for capturing scenes with a dynamic range beyond the capability of even today’s improved DSLR sensors.
The multi-frame image is often post-processed using HDR software, which blends the photo sequence to yield an image that retains shadow details and avoids blown-out highlights.
But as we know, HDR software does not always produce the result we intended, sometimes leaving behind artifacts that can damage believability.
Luminosity masks is an alternative to HDR software that places control over blending tones directly in the hands of the photographer. Many professional photographers who want full control over the fate of their images now use this method to manage exposure.
In his presentation on Luminosity Masks, Mike will cover these topics, using his own images as examples along the way:
* What are they?
* When do they apply?
* Where do you get them?
* How do you use them?
Mini Shows in February
Every winter, Gateway Camera Club has a Member Mini Show night. This allows our members to showcase their work to fellow members. Shows are 5 minutes long, which is enough time to show 75 images. Many members use Pro Show Gold software to put their shows together with music and text, but there are many programs with slideshow capability. Space for this event is limited, so if you are interested in participating, please let Andrea know.
